2017 Mainstay Sangiovese

The 2017 Mainstay fruit is entirely from two of Red Mountain's original vineyards, the reknowned Ciel du Cheval vineyard and Kiona's Ranch at the End of the Road vineyard. Produced in extremely limited quantities, this Sangiovese represents the premium Sangiovese from our portfolio each year. This earlier vintage of Mainstay shows how Sangiovese from Red Mountain evolves with time in bottle. The 2017 offers dried cherry, fig, and leather on the nose, with softened, well-integrated tannins on the palate. Savory, earthy notes have come forward with age, and the finish is long and mellow rather than sharp.
